Is something off in the weave poles? Is she slower off the line to the bird?
Does he rise a bit stiff after lying down a while? Notice a few extra pounds?
Our best friend can't tell us when something's not right, so, its up to us to notice changes in the way they move or react in typical situations. Not only is your dog not able to tell you specifically that something is wrong, often they cover it up by running and having fun despite discomfort. If you notice that your pet doesn't seem to be moving as freely as usual, or they seem to be in pain, a physical assessment can help.
