Like most dog people, Erin grew up with many pets. She has often said "I don't think I have lived more than a 3-4 month stretch in my life without a dog."
Erin was introduced to a whole new world when she met her first Field Trial Retriever, Talla. She was immediately impressed with what a sweet dog Talla was, but then saw her drive, intellect, and athleticism ... she was a 'polished' field champion.
Talla had a bout of biceps tendinitis that was preventing her from running. Erin's thought was "tendinitis... I do that everyday! It can't be that much different with dogs." A lifelong love of learning about the body and how it works and fixing it, coupled with helping people, began a new adventure.
"I really feel so fortunate to have found Canine Rehab. I love my work as a PT, its fun and challenging and I get to help people. I find myself saying the same thing about my work with dogs. Its the icing on the cake!"
After years of course work, with minor degrees in Physical Education from Fla State University and Exercise Physiology from University of New Orleans, Erin earned her Bachelor of Physical Therapy from Fla A&M University. She is a licensed, practicing, Physical Therapist certified in Aquatic Therapy (ATRIC) and as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) Erin holds her Certified Canine Rehabilitation Therapist (CCRT) degree from the Canine Rehabilitation Institute (CRI) where she is also a teaching assistant.
